The answer would be the same if you factored it normally. If you mean how i got there... 12x is broken down into 4x3 or 6x2 or 12x1. -2 is broken into -2 and 1. So if you try 4x\/1 3x/\-2 Cross multiply that and add them, -8+3 = -5. which is your middle number So. (4x+1)(3x-2) Cross factoring is just another way of factoring. 3x/\-2
Cross multiply that and add them,
